11). Isavasya Upanishad – Result of Karma and Upasana

We have heard from wise men that vidya and avidya give different results.

In this sloka,  the Rishi of Upanishad quotes the teaching of wise men to confirm that result of karma (avidya) and Upasana ( vidya) are different.  Rishi is ascertaining this to indicate that previous sloka is not just based on his understanding, but the opinion of other Realized  Masters as well.

Through karma, the world of ancestors (manes) is attained – Brihadararanyaka Upanishad  (10-5-4-16).  Through the vidya path of the world of Gods is won (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1-5-16).

Thus both the path of vidya and avidya strengthen the notion of individual self “I am doer, I am enjoyer” and bind individual into blinding darkness.

Sanatana Dharma does not rely on mental speculations, intellectual postulates but the teaching of Realized Masters for Truth.
