12. They fall into blind darkness who worship the unborn Prakriti (avyakrita). They fall into greater darkness who are bent upon the Karya Brahman Hiranyagarbha. (12).
Q12-1). What is manifest (sambhuti) and unmanifest (asambhuti)?
Manifest includes all gross and subtle worlds. The gross world is available to sense perception. Five elements – Space (akasha), Wind (Vayu), Fire (Agni), Water (ap), and earth (prathvi). All living and non-living beings having gross forms are included in this.
The subtle world includes thoughts, imagination, feelings, sensations – touch (sparsha), form (rupa), taste (rasa), smell (gandha), sound (shabdha). The subtle state is a dream like a state. This state is called Karya Brahma or Hiranya Garbha.
Unmanifest is a causal state called avyakrita Prakriti.
In the process or inward journey, the seeker may get attracted to subtle sound, smell, sensations, taste, and form. This is still Maya. Seeker also may experience the bliss of causal state.
This sloka warns against seeking the material nature in manifest form or unmanifest form.
The world of a manifest is materialism. Pursuing materialistic instincts may give some powers. In pursuit of manifest/unmanifest nature, the mind is still objectified. The source of manifest and unmanifest – Brahman is to be pursued not the material nature.
