Let us continue our contemplation, on the purpose of life. There is poultry, hundreds of Chickens are bred in that poultry. By accident, one egg of Eagle also falls in that poultry. The Eagle egg breaks and Eagle comes out. It lives with other Chicken and keeps thinking that it is also Chicken. Like all other Chicken, it lives. It doesn’t know that it is different from the Chicken.
As time passes, the Eagle has become old. One day, it sees a bird, flying in the sky. It is really attracted by that bird. “What is that bird which is flying?” Some other Chicken says, “You don’t know? That is a king of birds. It is called Eagle. It is flying in the sky. Eagles fly in the sky, whereas we Chickens live on the land”. This Eagle felt so sorry about the situation. “Yeah! Yeah! Chickens cannot fly in the sky. Only Eagles can fly in the sky. I wish, I was also an Eagle”. But it is too old.
Dear Atma Jyoti’s, we are also like that. This beautiful creation consisting of Stars, Planets, Galaxies, has a variety of living beings. Of all the living beings, only Human Being has the ability, intelligence, to understand something higher, which other animals don’t have. All living beings are creatures. The creator is Consciousness. A creature will never be able to understand the creator. Just like a Robot trying to understand, human being. It is not possible.
It is like a bulb trying to understand electricity. It is not possible. A creature is not in a position to understand the creator. But the human being is a unique creature. Deep inside us, there is this Divine Consciousness, the light of the Self. Because of our intellect, we are able to go deep inside and discover that light of the Self. This place, or the unique portion, where, we don’t have to live the life of a creature. We can be a part of the creator. We can discover the creator in us and become a part of the creator.
Like Eagle, most of us have no concept about the height which we can grow and the height which we can reach. We are born as human beings, live as human beings, and die as human beings. But there is one possibility in us which is to discover the Divine in us. To be born as a human being, to grow up as a human being, but to attain Divinity while living, is a possibility of human life. Otherwise, we are like Eagle, an old Eagle, which is living in a poultry farm or the chicken farm, without knowing its own potential.
There is another story. There was a Lion. A Shepherd found a Lion Cub and brought it to his place. The Lion grew up with all other Sheep. It thought it was also a Sheep. It was grazing as all other Sheep did. It never knew that it was different from the other Sheep. One day, another Lion sees this Lion Cub. It was wonder stuck that this Lion Cub was eating grass and it was living like any other Sheep. It catches hold of that Lion Cub and takes it to the water. The Lion shows its reflection in the water to the Lion cub and tells, “Look at your reflection here. You are not a Sheep. You are like me, a Lion. You should roar like a Lion”.
That Cub starts roaring like a Lion. It discovers its true nature. Atma Jyoti’s, you are living with a concept of ‘I am the body, I am the mind, I am the intellect’. None of this is true. You are the Supreme. You are the Divine Light, Atma Jyoti. Discover the light, and roar like a Lion. That’s the purpose of your life.
