How to get rid of ego?

Ego is absence of awareness. It is more like shadow which is absence of light. Shadow cannot be killed because it has no real existence. Ego is also similar to shadow – unreal.
Illusion of Ego can be dropped by finding source of ego – SELF. It is like saying I saw a ghost and got scared. How do I get rid of ghost ? You cannot get rid of ghost because it is unreal – your imagination. Only way to get rid of ghost is to examine where ghost is coming from ? A lamp post is appearing like ghost ! Then you can laugh at ghost.
Similarly source of “ghost of ego” has to be investigated using self enquiry “who am I”. Once you recognize SELF, you can laugh at ego.
