Upasana

Question:

Guruji, upasana is on a name and form.

Thought is a name and form.

Now, Nidhidhyasa is firmly establishing the right thought “I am Brahman”.

So then,  how is Nidhidhyasa different from Upasana except for the fact that both have different types of thought?

Sri Prabhuji:

Upasana is visualization. Nirguna upasana is visualizing space is Brahman, I am like space.

Nidhidhyasa does not involve any visualization. It involves negating all objects, thought feelings as mithya and recognizing pure awareness as Satya- Brahman- I am.

Thought is a pointer. Focus on what is finger pointing not the finger.

Student:

But, it is a thought finally in both the cases, only the type of thought is different.

Sri Prabhuji“

Not type of thought. What thought points to. In upasana thought points to space – object. In nidhidhyasa – awareness which is Myself – sakshi.
