Why is the false self/ego so keen on surviving? What is its reason for survival according to Vedanta teachings?
Sri Prabhuji:
Ego identifies with the body and mind due to ignorance. Ego feels limitation of time and space due to this identification. To get rid of limitations ego seeks happiness in the outer world. No experience is satisfactory for the ego which is seeking infinite bliss. Infinite bliss is possible only when ego traces its source to infinite SELF. Until this happens ego wants to survive.
