Question:
Sir, many Non-Duality (Advaita) teachers say that we don’t have a soul because that would be duality? Is that correct?
Sri Prabhuji:
There are two levels of reality – transcendental (Paramarthik) and immanent (vyavaharika). We can call this as noumenon (transcendetal) and phenomenal (manifest reality).
Soul (jiva) is manifest reality in the phenomenal reality. All differences and separations are in phenomenal reality. In transcendence there is no separation – only Absolute reality (Brahman) exists.
One Absolute reality (Brahman) “appears” as world and individual soul.
An analogy can be given – Water (Absolute reality), “appears” as ocean (world) and wave (individual soul). Appearances are temporary. Wave has to realize I am water. Soul has to realize I am transcendent Reality where there is no “apparent” differentiation.
