Student: What is the phrase dream of separation often described in Spirituality?
Prabhuji: There is only one Reality called Brahman – pure awareness. World is the appearance of Brahman like a snake mistaken in rope. There is a feeling of desperation in experience of the world. This is a dream like situation. In our dreams we go see tiger, elephant, cities. In our dream “me” the subject and “tiger” the object are not really separate but apparently separate. Similarly dream of Brahman is called Maya. Subject object separation in Maya is apparent but not real.
Follow-up Question:
If Brahman is awareness, how can there be a dream of Brahman? Dream implies unawareness, isn’t it?
Prabhuji: There is no dream for Brahman. There is dream in Brahman due to creative intelligence Maya Shakti. Please note the difference between dream for Brahman and dream in Brahman.
