Question:
In his books, apparently Nisargdatta Maharaj said that the only thing we need to do is see the dream as a dream. How do we do that? What is the right method or process ?
Sri Prabhuji: How do we know dream as a dream ? While dreaming we cannot know dream as dream ! It is impossible to know dream as dream while dreaming ! We have to wake up from the dream to know dream as dream. We have to understand that dream appears to be experientially real while in dream state. But on waking up dream objects are factually unreal !
Waking state is also like dream. However in waking state we cannot recognize waking state as dream. We have to wake up from waking state. Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj gives a simple way to wake up from waking state. Hold on to I AM in waking state. Do not identify I AM with body, mind, intellect. Just stay as I AM. What is prior to I AM – pure I – awareness. Waking up from waking dream is to stay in I AM and then recognizing I is the method suggested by Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj.
