We have two aspects of life – “what I have” and what “I am”. What I have is called mineness (mamakara) and what I am is called ego ahankara.
The deeper inner meaning (ghud artha) of sanyasa is – samyak (right) nyasa(pursuit/deposit). Right pursuit of mind to enquire into nature of Self – who am I ? is called sanyasa. Real Sanyasa is to drop ahankara to recognise true SELF free from identification with body, mind and intellect.
Without understanding the real nature of sanyasa people confuse dropping mine (job, family) as sanyasa (monkhood).
One who pursues Self enquiry is real Sanyasi whether he/she has lifestyle of householder or monk.
