Ego is vulnerable and invulnerable at the same time This is paradox of ego.
Any small event can hurt a vulnerable ego badly. On the other hand an invulnerable ego is ready to fight battles in life without backing out.
Ego appears to be functioning as an unchanging SELF while deriving its identity from a changing body and mind. Illusory ego bridges Real SELF with changing body-mind.
Identification with SELF makes ego appear invulnerable. Identification with temporary changing body-mind makes ego very vulnerable. This is the paradox of ego.
