We have several deities and mantras associated with deity. Mananat trayate iti mantraha – Contemplation on the essence of the meaning of mantra leads to freedom.
We live in make-believe words of “names and forms” as reality. Name and form of “necklace” becomes the reality while the essence of necklace “gold” becomes secondary.
Name and form of all objects in the universe points to the essential reality of Brahman. Not knowing this we think name and form is the reality and get trapped in maya.
Contemplation on Name (mantra) and form of the deity helps one to become free from maya.
