“Get me some water” told the Master. “How can I bring the water” – asked the disciple. “Fool, bring the water in a glass” ordered the Master.
In above example we see any communication has two levels of meaning – literal meaning (vachyartha) and implied meaning (lakshyartha). “Bring water” – literal meaning does not make sense. Implied meaning “bring water in glass” makes sense.
Implied meaning of spiritual teachings have to be understood from realized Master. “That Thou Art – Tatwamasi” makes sense only with implied meaning.
