A name is a pointer to an object. Name points to the form and function of the object. For example the name necklace points to a certain shape of ornament. While the necklace is the form the essence is Gold.
While dealing with objects we start taking temporary name and form as reality ignoring the substance.
The essential substance of every object in the universe is Brahman. Focusing on the name and form as reality while ignoring the essence is the illusion (maya). Every name is pointer to Brahman. Meaning of every name is Brahman
