A Sage is one who has realized SELF. He has realized the Supreme Truth Parabrahman – nondual transcendental reality beyond subject object duality.
However we see the body of Sage functioning in the world. For the upliftment of consciousness of the world (Loka Kalyana) Sages like Shri Shankara, Sri Vedavyasa, Swami Vivekananda worked relentlessly. How does a sage function in the world ? Why does the sage work for upliftment of consciousness in the world ?
The Sage is no longer an individual (jiva). His personal self “I” has merged with impersonal Witnessing SELF “I” which has merged with Transcendental SELF “I” (Parabrahman).
The body mind complex of such a Sage is functioning because of Universal Consciousness (I) full of universal LOVE and Compassion. It is the Universal consciousness (I) (Ishvara) working through the body of Sage works towards upliftment of the consciousness in the world (Loka Kalyana)
