The Divine Mother is called Chamundi because she kills a demon called Chamunda. This is in the metaphysical (adidaivika) level.
At the spiritual level (adhyatmik) demon Chanda, Munda represent the ignorance. Chanda represents head and Munda represents body. Actions without thinking (wisdom/discrimination) is called Munda. Impulsive chain thoughts is called Chanda.
Divine Mother Chamundi represents the cosmic intelligence killing ignorance of Chanda and Munda.
She bestows enlightenment by realising I am not body (Munda), I am not the mind (Chanda), I am pure consciousness (Naanu nanembudu..)
