The universe is the “appearance” of Brahman(Awareness). It is like saying a snake is the “appearance” of rope.
Name and form (nama, rupa), conceal Brahman – the underlying Reality of the Universe.
A veil of ignorance (avidya, maya) covers the Reality.
The veil drops and the Reality reveals Itself when all the preconceived notions and impressions (vasanas and samskaras) are dropped.
The word reveal means removing the veil (re-veil) of ignorance to realize the Truth.
