Thoughtlessness in Meditation

The thoughtless state in meditation doesn’t mean having zero thoughts, but rather experiencing a calm mind where thoughts are few and fleeting. Like clouds in the sky, thoughts come and go in the mental space. True thoughtlessness is observing these thoughts without getting attached or identified with them. In this state, thoughts no longer disturb the witnessing consciousness. Once thoughts are understood to be unreal, meditator is established in blissful thoughtless state where presence or absence of fleeting thoughts becomes irelevant.
