Question:
Are Jivatma and Atman the same thing? When a Yogi mediates then he/she mediates on whom the Jivatman or the Atman? Please clarify.

Jivatman = Jiva+Atman = ego+Atman.
Meditation is to find the source of ego (jiva) to realize there was only atman.
For example a wave (jiva) is worried about death of wave. Wave seeks the source of me (ego) to realize all the while there was only water (Atman). To call something as wave is just giving a name and form to water. Even when wave (jiva) dies nothing happens to water (atman).
