Vastu Tantra & Purusha Tantra

Question: I feel that the major obstacle in this path is objectifying the realization. Is it possible for the intellect to stop objectifying Brahman and still be able to recognize my inner self as Brahman?

Sri Prabhuji: There are two kinds of knowledge – Vastu tantra and purusha tantra.

Purusha tantra means knowledge which is dependant on human being. This knowledge is subject to limitation of human mind. Error of perception, interpretation by ego, mind distort knowledge. For example two people may see a moon – one person may claim moon is bluish and another may say it is slightly reddish. Both views are relatively real not absolutely real. Such relative knowledge comes under category of purusha tantra – subject of human perception which is anyway limited due to sense organs and mind. What is the nature of this knowledge ? It changes with time and space and observer.

All discoveries of science fall into this category. All scientific theories fall into this category. Science focuses on objective reality ignoring subject – consciousness. Hence all discoveries of science are incomplete and subject to change when new discoveries are made. This comes under purusha tantra or knowledge which is pourusheya – human origin.

On the other hand the knowledge which is called vastu tantra is not dependent on observer. In example of moon given above two people may give different explanation of moon ( purusha tantra) but what is moon in reality independent of their observation ? What us reality of moon ? The reality of moon does not depend on observer. This is called vastu tantra. Vastu tantra is recognized in antahkarana (mind) but corrupted by ego(ahankara). This is the nature of purusha tantra.

Essential nature of reality of world, universe can be recognized only when “observer – human mind/perception” is absent. This means one who seeks knowledge of vastu (reality) has to be free from mind. Such a state of mind is called “no mind”. One who is in state of no mind has gone beyond mind to realize Truth (satyam) as it is. He is called enlightened one. The truth recognized in no mind state is Vastu tantra or reality. Vastu tantra does not change from person to person or time to time. Vedic knowledge belongs to Vastu tantra not purusha tantra. Vastu tantra is possible only when subject (purusha) and object (reality) are one. Vastu tantra is transcendental Reality. One who realizes this truth is called Rishi.

Rishi is called “mantra drastara”. Seer of mantra. He did not “see mantra”. He realize non dual truth. Hence Rishi is SEER. Truth seen by Rishi is pit in words called mantras. Mantras are composed by Rishi based on his realization of Truth. Sanskrit was language of communication for Truth. In modern day Truth may be communicated in any other language also not necessarily sanskrit. Words of Enlightened one (no mind/ transcendental knowledge) is veda mantra only irrespective of language. Compared to other languages, sanskrit has more precision in communicating Truth more accurately. Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa spoke in Bengali. His words are called Vachana Veda. So did many saints in Kannada (dasas/sharanas) or Tamil etc. Please note that sanskrit has more precise way of communicating truth. It is like saying “mathematics” has more precise way of communicating scientific Truths. Vedic knowledge is Vastu tantra.

Vedic knowledge is apourusheya (not subject to errors of human perception/ mind). Apourusheya also means no one claims as author. “Nobody” can claim ownership of universal Truth which is “transcendental” knowledge of Enlightened one. In transcendental knowledge there is no subject object duality. Then who saw the Truth ? Ishvara – universal consciousness alone communicated Truth through the body mind of Rishi (sage). It is revealed through antahkarana of Rishi (sage) but not corrupted by ahankara (ego) of Rishi. Hence vedic knowledge is apourusheya. No authorship is claimed by any rishi (sage).

Also we have to note that Rishi means one who has Ritambhara prajna. Truth has two dimensions – transcendental and immanent. In the immanent dimension Truth is called Dharma (Divine order). If we call Transcendental Truth (Satyam) as Divine Wisdom, immanent Truth is called Divine Order (Ritham).

Vedic knowledge Vastu tantra is Satyam+Ritham without any authorship and hence apourusheya.

Scientific knowledge which is objective in nature addresses only prakriti (nature) which falls under category of immanent Truth (ritham) while ignoring transcendental truth (satyam). Hence this knowledge is incomplete.

On the other hand wisdom of vedas is comprehensive covering both transcendental (satyam) and immanent (ritham) is comprehensive and complete.

Scientific Truths fall under category of Philosophy (mental speculation) while vedic Truths fall under category of darshana. Darshana means to see is to be. Seer seen duality is not there.
