Mind is the cause of bondage and liberation.
Mind absorbed in sense objects is cause of bondage and mind seeking true SELF (who am I ?) free from sense objects is the cause of liberation. (Mana Eva Karanam… Amritabindu Upanishad).
Both bondage and liberation is the illusion of mind. SELF is beyond bondage and liberation.
