Algebra and Vedanta

In algebra we use equations like if A= B (if A is equal to B) then B= A (B is equal to A)

A typical Vedantic equation is as follows.
Water appears as wave, bubble and foam. Therefore Wave, bubble and foam is water.
Wave/ Bubble = Water.

But the other way is not true. Water is not equal to Wave/Bubble. Water > Wave/bubble. (Water is greater than bubble).

Similarly individual soul Jivatman = Paramatman (Super Soul) Jivo Brahmaiva Na Paraha – Vedantik teaching.

But the other way is not true. Paramatma is not equal to Jivatman. Paramatma > Jivatman (Paramatma is greater than Jivatman).

This logic of Vedanta is used is applied in following way. Jiva (Individual) consciousness is Sakshi (Witness). But Sakshi (witness) is not Jiva. Sakshi (Witness) is Brahman but Brahman is not Sakshi (witness). From this logic Jiva is Brahman but Brahman is not Jiva.

Similarly Jiva is Ishvara. But Ishvara is not Jiva. Ishvara is Brahman. But Brahman is not Ishvara. Extending this logic Jiva is Brahman but Brahman is not Jiva.
