The witness (Sakshi) observes both external objects and mental phenomena, creating an apparent duality between the observer and the observed (Sakshyam). However, upon realizing that the witnessed objects are unreal (mithya), this subject-object division dissolves. Ultimately, both Sakshi and Sakshyam merge into a single, nondual transcendental reality—Brahman.
