Vedanta teaches that only knowledge (Jnana) leads to liberation. However, this knowledge is not intellectual or scriptural knowledge but the realization of the SELF. The SELF itself is pure knowledge (Jnana Swaroopa), beyond subject and object distinctions. True Jnana is the direct establishment in the SELF, free from duality, which alone leads to liberation.
