Both madman and Godman are beyond the understanding of society. Society functions based on people who are identified with the mind. Mind is the basis for societal functioning.
Madman has fallen below the mind – he operates from subconcious mind hence society cannot understand madman.
On the otherhand, enlightened Sage (Godman) has gone above and beyon mind (superconcious mind) and hence society cannot understand such a sage rationally.
Many sages live in Divine Madness. Some of them are called Avadhutas in Bharat. The behaviour of Avadhuta cannot be undestood by society.
